caddypete
I was checking the fuel pressure on my 2000 Eldo. When I turn the ignition on I get 40 psi. With engine running 35-40 psi mostly around 38. If I disconnect the vacuum line to the FPR it holds at 46psi. My question is what are the specs for the fuel pressure suppose to be? I thought it should be 40-50 psi at idle. Is it time to replace the pump?
JimD
....My question is what are the specs for the fuel pressure suppose to be? I thought it should be 40-50 psi at idle. I have a 1998 and a 2004 Service Manual and I cannot locate a fuel pressure specification. The fuel pressure readings I have taken on both a 1998 and a 2004 engine gave values in the 38 to 40 PSI range. But the calibration and accuracy of the pressure gauge can be questioned. For me, the true test would be -- can you wind the engine to red-line RPM in 2nd gear without a stumble? If the answer is YES, your fuel pressure is adequate. Quote Jim Drive your car.
