MAC
I know someone who brought his '94 Eldorado to a shop to have the oil pan gasket replaced. According to him, he was told by one of the shop's mechanics that the car had to be taken off the lift so they could work on other cars. I told him that I don't believe the car can be moved without an engine cradle because the cradle supports the engine. I don't know if anything that could be done in the absense of an engine cradle that will allow the car to be driven. So was the shop lying about moving the car without the engine cradle? joeb
nope. can't be done. the lower suspension attaches to the subframe which is the engine cradle. both front/rear motor mount brackets are bolted to the subframe. take out the subframe and strut assy's are hanging loose. you need a lift to hold the body using the frame rails as lift points and than drop the subframe. the car is not going anywhere from that point on.
