another not starting question

hi all, new to the forum here. thank god for these forums i usually find the help i need when it comes to my 01 dhs. My latest problem happened one morning, i drove my car to get a coffee and when i came out i had a no start/no crank condition. the door locks/windows/gps/radio would not work however the headlights and dashboard lights and moonroof would. first thing i did was try pulling codes and try to start it in neutral. the obd11 said no data for all codes. i tried jumping it, tightening the battery and cleaning the connections still no crank. i had it towed to a auto electric specialist here in Boston, he proceeded to try everything he could think of. all the wires have power, all the fuses and relays are good, fuse boxes are good, and all the grounds he found are fine. the car will start if he bypasses something(not to good with technical terms sorry) but the fuel injectors cut off immediately. bot of my keys were also tried at the beginning with no difference. using an external computer to pull the codes also reads no data. he also told me that all the things that do not work have power going to them and the should be working especially the power door locks. he told me he was looking for a common denominator, like a ground that had all of these things together but couldn't find one. unfortunately for me he gave up and said he couldn't help me, luckily he did not charge me anything. before i have it towed to a dealer does anyone have any suggestions or are we (he) overlooking anything? any help is much appreciated!

The key here is that you aren't getting any codes. What exactly are you getting when you try to run the codes? Run them yourself and write down what you get and post that information here.

when i run the codes "no data" is what comes up on my dashboard. it literally say's "no data". when the car was hooked up to a very sophisticated computer it read something like this "unable to connect" (not my comp so not sure of the exact wording)

the battery was ruled out by switching twice, the current battery in the car however is still good. is it possible for one module to effect other modules in a car if it has a problem?

Your network connection to the instrument panel cluster is out. This is the purple wire in most cars. Check under the dash and make sure that something isn't unplugged under there. Follow the cable from the OBD II interface to the instrument panel module connector and make sure that it's plugged in and tight. Also look on the back of the A/C controls, and the back of the radio.

This situation looks like someone who did not have a clue was unplugging stuff to solve some minor problem, hoping that unplugging all the computers would take the car back to 1969, and instead took it back to 1885. If so, this must be undone to get the wiring back into shape before the car will be sufficiently operational to work on.
