Code P0300 Misfire

I think that the PCM may bump the idle speed when the power steering is dragging a lot, which it detects from the steering position sensor, and the throttle is at idle. But it should also drop the idle speed when the transmission is out-of-gear.

BBF is saying to make sure that your throttle body is clean so your Idle Air Control (IAC) motor isn't sticking, and the idle air channels are clear. The pintle is the valve that closes the idle port, like the washer in a faucet.

Other things to look for are a vacuum leak, a PCV valve stuck open, a loose or missing oil filler cap or oil dipstick.

What are you saying, when you TURN?, your RPMS increase to 1000?

OR are you saying when you start your car, your RPMs are above 1000 RPM and it takes 2 min to return to normal say 625

It should be 625-650 in drive

Have you cleaned your throttle body and the idle port and pindle?

lo...yes im sorry..when i start my car my rpms go a little over 1000 and once in drive or reverse i drops back to about what you said "625"

no i havent done those 3 things...where can i read to lear how to do that? i dont know whats the iddle port or the pindle lol..... sorry

This photo below is from a 1996, I am not sure if it is the same in 2002, so be aware of that

GM sells upper engine cleaner (UEC), go to the dealer and tell them you are going to clean the throttle body and you want UEC

Use a nylon toothbrush or detail brush

Take off the snorkle leading to the throttle body, mine has the MAF attached to it, its a black cylinder about 4 inches long and is held in place by 3 or 4 screws.. Hold the throttle open and clean the throat and throttle plate including the rear with the tooth brush and rags, wear rubber gloves its nasty carbon...

Then take the IAC off, its held in place by two torx if I recall, clean the passages and the IAC plunger/pindle

DO NOT use excessive amounts of the engine cleaner

Here is a photo of the TB, with that black MAF attached

Here is the IAC, #4
