The coolant should have been changed before 2004, if this is the original coolant, that is not good I checked the coolant with a sniffer in school. Definitely exhaust fumes coming from coolant. I checke carfax to get any info and it juss said repair a fender. And I know I should of thought of why a 1999 onli came with 50 k. I wouldn't doubt that the coolant is the same but I'm sure that old coolant has been burned and replaced now. When I mean maintenance history I mean, did you have the maintenance history from the prior owner detailing repairs and maintenance, it does not sound like you did. The head gaskets will need to be repaired, but that will involve time-serting the block, you are looking at a very expensive repair in the $3000 range. You happen to have a VERY good dealer near you called General Sales Cadillac in West Chester, Pa. I know them VERY well, to know that they are an honest dealer with a very good and honest service department. If you decide to go, I will tell you in a PM who to talk to and my name so that you can approach them, Good Luck, Mike http://www.ruggericadillacsaab.com/ Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

BodybyFisher
Where did you buy this car? How long ago? How much did you spend? This is an advanced job, it would be a hard job for me and I have been involved with auto repairs my whole life. Just getting the engine out or carriage down is hard and you have not even started the head gasket job yet. You would need special tools and skills. It is possible that this car was sold to you with the problem. The lack of heat is probably the result of low coolant or air in the system, did you ever check the purge line to see if it was clogged?, not that it would matter now, with the combustion gases in the coolant. I shud of known If this was an auction its not likely you have the ability to bring it back, its more likely that you had time to inspect it and maybe they would refund your money within 48 hours if you found something serious doing the coolant testing. I would be very hesitate to purchase a NS in an auction unless it was clear that they would refund your money if you found combustion by products, and then you would probably need to have a reputible dealer check it not yourself so it could become complicated Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

So I decided to go to General Sales Cadillac for an official diagnosis for customer service to reference through. Who should I speak to Mike? Please let me know wat time would b best. Cool, I just needed to say that, if there is ANY way for them to cooperate and help you, they will. Keep in mind that dealers are NOT thrilled with working on older cars like yours (99), and I know some that wont touch them at all. I am not sure of General Sale's stance on this. If you click my linkable name you will see the ability to send me a private message, send me your contact info, car details, mileage, what customer service said, and give me any case numbers you have along with the vin number, and Ill forward it to George. Mike By the way, neither Caddyinfo or I make any representation that this will result in a conclusion that you will be happy or satisfied with, I am just trying to help and I am giving you the best dealer in the area, one that has a great reputation, heritage and ownership. If they can help you they will within their company policy.
