BodybyFisher
Clean the positive battery cable, take it off, remove the RED insulator, and use battery terminal cleaner or baking soda and water to clean the corrosion off and reattach. WATCH how that red terminal comes apart there are TWO terminals and a lug between them This sounds like a classic battery connection problem. BodybyFisher
Have you had the battery load tested? Did you take the positive cable totally apart?, or just remove and clean it? jayburna688
Yes I took it apart as instructed and cleaned both area with battery cleaner...Do u think it could be the security system??? If not; I am not questionin your knowledge but I'm a student in this field and diagnosis is in demand, may I ask wat makes u say the battery even when it shows the suffient voltage...is the instrument measuring the voltage on the battery may be off??? Or are the cca too low? Because my confusion is why no crank over just goes dead? Thank u for the help so far sir I want u to kno I appreciate the info. The system will disable all electrical power to accessories, etc. to provide maximum power for starting. Try using another vehicle to jump the Cadillac to see if that will get it to crank. Sometimes batteries fail so miserably that even jumpstarting won't work. Take the battery to an auto parts store and have it load tested. Make sure to charge it and have the tester bleed off the surface charge prior to testing to get an accurate test. BodybyFisher
I realize you are a student but YOU are asking basic questions, place your EGO on the side, your statement does in fact question my knowledge, which I don't mind, but YOU brought it up. The VOLTAGE of the BATTERY means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, the battery needs to be able to HOLD UP against AMP draw, it could show 12 volts, but as soon as you put a draw on your battery the voltage will drop to 8 or 9 volts due to an internal short in one of the cells. That is why they do LOAD testing, they use a tester that shows the VOLTAGE of the battery with a severe AMP load on it, and THEN if it shows 12 volts, your battery is good, the voltmeter in the car means absolutely nothing. BodybyFisher
Sorry Body u are right those are simple questions we did load test before to check the life of batteries I should of known..I will get it load tested and get back to u? No problem, let us know what the result is of the load test. Its important to eliminate the easy things first, you cleaned the positive cable now lets make sure the battery has balls before we go further.
