Bronson
Last Friday we went to a local car show and along the way we had the opportunity to enjoy some WOT on the interstate. Parked and checked out the autos in the show and after returning to my car there I noticed a small area on the inside of the windshield in the center close to the dash, looked as if it was from steam. I have also noticed an ever so slight sent of coolant but could not find any on the ground or under the hood anywhere. I had the system flushed several months ago at the dealership but recently had to add coolant. I have read in other postings about "pellets" and "bars leak" , can someone please explain what are they talking about and would the use of either one of these help with what's happening with the cooling system on my STS with only 48K miles Thanks for your time
CaddyChris
Do you mean on the outside of the windshield or actually inside the car? The coolant supplement everyone speaks of is bar's stop leak or something equivilant. It is available at pepboy's. I would get the kind that is in a 1" by 3" cylinder that is powder. This works better than the pellets. When the car is semi-cool <125, remove the airbox, and put 1 canister in the lower radiator hose. Put the hose back on , start it up, top off the coolant and go for a nice ride to get it flowing, it should help. Scotty
My guess is that your heater core may be leaking, see if the carpet or under the carpet is damp on the passenger side, Mike
Bronson
Thanks guys for the response. This is the very first time I have noticed this, I am famliar with the heater core leaking, had old Continentail that would steam up the intire windshild. I'm not difinetly sure if it was on the in or outside of the windshield, if it was on the outside I guess the contnections to the core on the firewall somewhere may be leaking. I would hope that this would be the case instead of the other alternative, the car only has 48K. I noticed this after running the car hard on the interstate, 110mph+ (wife was covering her eyes with hands at that point).
