Members more familiar with head gasket problem will chime in, but this is an interference engine, here is an article about it http://www.autoeducation.com/blog/item/2/ If you had the timing wrong its possible that you bent valves, but you said above all cylinders were at 190, is that correct? Please be more detailed in your responses. Explain to us how your timing was off and how you fixed it and how you determined it is NOW correct, ok? KHE
Earler, you stated that you had low compression on one bank - that is what lead me to think you had one timing chain not in the correct positon and that the valves were bent. Later, you said all cylinders were 190 psi. If all cylinders are 190 psi, then I would think the valves are OK. Did the engine run smoothly prior to the headgasket job? You need to determine what cylinder(s) are misfiring. You could swap out one of the coils and substitute one new coil in each of the four locations until you find the coil that is causing the problem. If the coils are OK, you could unplug and plug back in the injectors one at a time until you find the cylinder(s) that show no RPM drop when unplugged. Those cylinders will be the misfiring cylinder(s). A Tech-2 scanner would also identify the missing cylinder(s) but you would need to take the car to a shop.
