engine miss:wires?

did you look at the pic i posted? that is how i have the wires routed now. the wires from the front bank have a plastic loom over the fuel rail. mine does not. i will dig up some. i know AZ sells it. does that pic look like the factory ties? i think it is. i remember taking off the plastic loom when i did the wires 4yrs ago. sort of like a tri-y header. 2 sets of 2 leads into a larger sheath. there must be a reason GM ran it that way.

Its hard to find good loom most of it melts at too low a temp. Go to a scrap yard and pull some off newer caddys or GM cars..

It is my position that the plug wires are damaged. Plastic wire harness, or precise wire location, is not going to correct the problem.

Spend the $$ for an OEM (ACDelco) plug wire set and report the results.

I was going to say the same thing, the wires from that photo dont look to good. I had said to check each wire with an ohm meter earlier, but dried out ignition wires love to leak

that pic is not my car, just one i found online. i checked each wire for resistance. from shortest to longest, the resistance changes from 2.8kohm to 3.4kohm. the value increases as the length increases. all the crimp terminals look clean, no corrosion. i checked them last fall so my memory might be off but the resistance seemed to fall in line based on length.

You might want to open your hood on a very dark night and check for stray sparks. Your symptoms are very similar to what I had on my 93 Allante Northstar. The AC Delco spark plug wires looked virtually brand new but when I opened the hood up, I knew right away that they needed to be replaced. I ended up making my own custom set of MSD 8.5mm wires using the old AC Delco boots.
