king lear
I got about a week ago a 98 Seville STS in Forest Green with a fake tan Convertible top. The top is is GREAT condition for being 10 years old. it does have some minor stitch failure but back on topic. What kind of claning product should I use on it? Vinyl Cleaner? would that be good enough and is there a protectant for it? Thanks in advance,
Texas Jim
Is yours actually vinyl or the cloth / canvas type? I have never had one with the canvas type top so can't speak of the proper way to care for those. I got my first car with a VINYL top in 1970. I have had a bunch of them since then. I cleaned them with a soft scrub brush and mild soap. Small areas at a time. Then I put a little Johnsons Baby Oil in the palm of my hand and gently rubbed it into the vinyl. Some of them I had for 15 or 20 years and the vinyl never cracked or started coming apart. I figured if the Johnsons Baby Oil was good enough for a baby... it was good enough for the top on my Cadillacs. I have been told over and over that wasn't the right way to do it... but it worked well for me for over 30 years.

Latergator
Thanks I'll head to Auto Zone and do a check it thang For the canvass tops, I recommend a commercial car wash that has rainx. The foaming action of the soap works out the dirt and it is flushed away by high pressure rinse. The rainx causes dirt not to adhere easily. I am on my 3rd Caddy with the custom tops and have never had a problem.

I don't want to leave white spots where I clean it. Thanks friend of mine has a tan rag top on his caddy with the dark spots and nothing has worked. Best option without replacement is spray paint dying it. I just got a rag top put on my 83 coupe and was told to use that Raggtopp brand like mentioned because it was actually made by the same company that makes the stayfast rag top convertible material. Although I seen at a meguires booth at a world of wheels show they had a convertible top cleaner and said they were going to be releasing the conditioner this summer. Raggtopp has a cleaner and conditioner for the rag tops and it sounds like the only other option will be meguires. * 1966 Deville Convertible * 2007 Escalade ESV Black on Black * 1996 Fleetwood Brougham Black on Black V4P -Gone* 1983 Coupe Deville Street/Show Lowrider -Gone* 1970 Calais 4dr Hardtop GONE* 2000 Deville DTS - Silver with Black Leather and SE grille GONE* 1999 Seville STS - Pearl Red GONE

CoupeDTS
I have always has good results with Raggtopp which have you used the cleaner or conditioner? Im just curious what the overspray is like on the conditioner. Like if some gets on your windows is it like armorall that is greasy and needs an alcohol window cleaner to get off. Also I mentioned black spots wont come out. That may not be entirely true. Depending on what they are. If it truely is mold I have read somewhere it can come out, Ill have to go back to that forum and see what they used. I want to say CLR but I better go check. My friends dark spots were from sitting under a tree and nothing removed them. I wouldnt worry about leaving white spots as you mentioned, i dont think anything will turn it white. * 1966 Deville Convertible * 2007 Escalade ESV Black on Black * 1996 Fleetwood Brougham Black on Black V4P -Gone* 1983 Coupe Deville Street/Show Lowrider -Gone* 1970 Calais 4dr Hardtop GONE* 2000 Deville DTS - Silver with Black Leather and SE grille GONE* 1999 Seville STS - Pearl Red GONE
