BodybyFisher
In 2000 and 2004 many Democrats were voicing their displeasure with the electorial college, I think it might be time to abandon it as cities now have too much influence over the election and have slanted our politics Some unreported stats about the 2008 election: Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul, MN, points out some interesting facts concerning the 2008 Presidential election: - Number of States won by Parties: Democrats - 20; Republicans - 30 - Square miles of land won by Parties: Democrats - 580,000; Republicans - 2,427,000 - Population of the counties won by Parties: Democrats - 127 million; Republicans - 143 million - Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by Parties: Democrats - 13.2; Republicans - 2.1 Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Republican won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens. Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in rented or government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare." Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase. From the following, notice that only in the states of Alaska and Oklahoma where ALL of the counties were won by McCain/Palin. Marika
I have always despised the electoral college and I wish it would be eliminated but doing so would require a constitutional amendment and I fear any tampering with the constitution. If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.
rmac-etc
Plu-eeze - Number of States won by Parties: Democrats - 20; Republicans - 30 Based on what, area? Certainly not the popular vote. - Square miles of land won by Parties: Democrats - 580,000; Republicans - 2,427,000 So what? Alaska, Texas, and Montana alone are enough EMPTY square miles to accomplish that. - Population of the counties won by Parties: Democrats - 127 million; Republicans - 143 million Apparently, those populations did not care to vote. And as they did not do so in this particular election, they probably should not have. Sorry, call me elitist. - Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by Parties: Democrats - 13.2; Republicans - 2.1 Yep, the more people you have the more murder, however I am not blown away by erudition of this source: http://www.snopes.com/politics/ballot/athenian.asp I have voted republican for decades, not this time, and if mccain keeled over, the last person in the most powerful position in the free world should not be S Palin, is that not obvious! Just having her influence in the education system make me shudder, i now have grandchildren. We now have someone who is well educated, intelligent, gifted and willing to hear all sides and not use swagger and ideology to determine our fate. If he fails as R Slimebaugh, sorry Limbaugh wishes, then mcclain/palin certainly would not have succeeded either. - just me, i get this way sometimes, maybe i didn't take my meds in time .. who knows. BodybyFisher
Well then I hope you are happy with the so called CHANGE. ALL of his post nominees have tax problems and conflict of interest problems (HillBill). The so called stimulus bill was a TOTAL JOKE, with very little stimulus in is and it is loaded with democrat pet projects. How do you define well educated? Your education begins the day you graduate college, and he has little or no experience at all if ANY... He does know the Rules for Radicals by Sol ALinski however. He is the absolute worst thing to happen to this country since its inception. You think the president needs to campaign in GERMANY and apoligize for the US? You don't think the PRESS is complicit in ignoring this guys ideology, radical associations, programs, negative statements toward whites and the US...? How about this statement in his own words, White Peoples Greed runs a World in Need? You like that? That is what you want for President for all? This guy was supposedly about change and we heard how he had a CHECKLIST to help VETT potential candidates down to "Do you have a Facebook or My Space page", yea well I guess he FORGOT to ask the more important questions like "DO YOU PAY YOUR TAXES"? You think its ok to elect Hillary Clinton to SEC of STATE with her husband having taken MILLION in fees and contributions? Can you say conflict of interest? This man and the Dems are a laughing stock, take the stars out of your eyes and wake up, we are in for BIG GOVERNMENT and a HUGH TRANSFER of WEALTH. I have not heard one SMART statement about how to create jobs in this country have YOU? Try reading how OBJECTIVE the PRESS was in this clown's reporting! Even though editors at the New York Times hate it Bernard Goldberg's A Slobbering Love Affair Hits #2 on the NYT Bestseller List -Amazon reviewer A Slobbering Love Affair, the blockbuster new book from Bernard Goldberg, will debut at #2 on the New York Times bestseller list on Sunday, February 15th. And everyone from Sean Hannity to Bill O'Reilly to Amazon reviewers agree—if you want to learn the truth about the mainstream media's hopelessly biased coverage of Barack Obama, you've got to read Goldberg's new book. In A Slobbering Love Affair, Goldberg shows how the mainstream media's one-sided coverage of President Obama has shredded America's trust in journalism and endangered our free society. Worse, Goldberg argues, the media have become active participants in the political process, making the dangerous leap from media bias to media activism. A Slobbering Love Affair also includes Goldberg's exclusive interview with Rush Limbaugh, who explains how and why the liberal media will refuse to let Barack Obama fail. A blistering takedown of the media's slavish support for Obama, A Slobbering Love Affair shows how the mainstream media have not only surrendered their integrity and objectivity, but could even endanger our democracy. Please is right, we are under attack from the inside and we better wake the hell up. Bush spent money like a drunken sailor, I am not condoning what he did or his intelligence but THIS GUY is WAY WAY WAY WAY worse... Can you imagine if BUSH got mad at Chris Matthews or the jerk Keith Oberman and actually told the US people NOT to listen to them? Where is this guys HEAD? The press unmercifully RIPPED Bush for 8 years and he NEVER FLINCHED NEVER! This jerk is going to try and silence the conservative media. Can you say Stalin, USSR? But then again you live in the most liberal state in the country California.. How is the Terminator working out? Big deficits? I suppose you are a Global Warming fan too? rmac-etc
wow ... you had then you lost me at "Sean Hannity to Bill O'Reilly " . actually i was kidding about the 'had me' part! ... Mike, you are smart guy, those right wingers are way out of hand. slinging crap and nothing else. The sound of R Lb's cock sure arrogance is something I can no longer stand. We gotta stop the partisan polarization that the media has created and start thinking for ourselves. Education comes from many places and some of it does actually happen in college. i can only imagine how things might be different if 44 had studied ahhh, anything. Hannity? I forced myself to watch both O'Reilly and Olberman for a couple of weeks ... its an exercise I recommend. ... and you have the cojones to be proud of a measly 121000!
