BodybyFisher
Try disconnecting the battery and letting the system go through a re-learn. Make sure the throttle plate is not binding or dirty and closing fully. My guess is that you need a relearn if you replaced the plenum gasket Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

Ranger
Plenum "gasket"? On the 2000+ Northstars the "plenum" is the rubber coupler between the TB and the manifold. Is that what you replaced? I didn't think there was a gasket involved.
Anthocas
well yeah i changed that
Anthocas
i am pretty sure that i pinpointed my problem with the idle and such, I am pretty sure the mass air flow has to be replaced, my question is now, does the dealer have to re flash the pcm after that is changed? that would make all the difference in me installing the part myself or taking it to the dealer
BodybyFisher
How did you determine this, did you run the on board DTC codes? Retrieve the codes Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
Anthocas
yes sir when i called caddy with the codes i pulled they said it was the mass airflow (that code) PCM P0101 i believe, but like i said in my pervious post it was idling at like 2000 rpm after replacing the plemum but yesterday i had reset the codes now it idles at around 850ish but it is sputtering and very rough
BodybyFisher
Check the connections Someone will chime in here, but I think you can get a false mass air flow code We have a list of codes here for you, you don't need to call Cadillac, next time post your code and we will direct you to the DTC code data base I am going to merge this thread with your previous thread, Mike Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
BodybyFisher
By the way, the reason you keep the threads together is to help with the history Here is where you find your codes http://myweb.accessus.net/~090/dtcobd2.html You might just get by with cleaning your mass air flow The fast idle can P0507 could be related to a vacuum leak but you should be getting a lean mixture code. Check the codes again Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
