thu
A quote from today's Wall Street Journal: "Forcing us to save GM, Ford and Chrysler is to force us to buy what we have already decided we do not want. That's about as un-American as you can get." 2003 Seville STS 43k miles with the Bose Sound, Navigation System, HID Headlamps, and MagneRide 1993 DeVille. Looks great inside and out! 298k miles! thu
I think the $75/Hr (or whatever it really is) INCLUDES medical ins., pension, vacation, and any other benefits that are in their contract. Yes, that is correct. See my earlier post about this. The Detroit three workers get about $75/hour TOTAL COMPENSATION. The Transplant workers get a bit less than $45/hour TOTAL COMPENSATION. 2003 Seville STS 43k miles with the Bose Sound, Navigation System, HID Headlamps, and MagneRide 1993 DeVille. Yes, that is correct. See my earlier post about this. The Detroit three workers get about $75/hour TOTAL COMPENSATION. The Transplant workers get a bit less than $45/hour TOTAL COMPENSATION. Now, that is what I heard also. But Logan refuted that info and I believe him. Where did you get your info from? I have heard it on FOX, Rush and Marc Levin and I believe I have read it also. Oddly, I have not heard anyone from GM say it nor is it on their website where they explain all of this Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
KHE
I believe the $75 figure also includes all the legacy costs which the imports do not have because they have not been around as long. The old style of pension (that most companies had in years past) hasn't been offered to new GM employees in 15-20 years. All the hirees in the last 15 years get is a 401k plan. As far as the Wall Street Urinal stating that "Forcing us to save GM, Ford and Chrysler is to force us to buy what we have already decided we do not want." is a crock... ALL car sales are down, including the media's beloved foreign makes, not just the domestics. Logan
The number on my stub is $28.75 per hour. 27 year employee. I have never made $150K in a year working for GM. More like $60K with some overtime. Yeah, I go to the dentist. Thats about it. No way $20-40K health. Yes, I have a pension. But I also have a 401K. New GM employees. No health care, no pension. The current GM pension fund is actually overfunded. The $70 per hour job number is a GM generated number. For them it's this: For every current GM emplyoee working 1 hour, GM is paying out $70 dollars for the current employee, the pension, the insurance and pension for everyone whom ever worked for GM. Good lord! The $70 employee per hour will not go away.. The problem #1. Health Care. My Dad is 82. Retired GM employee. He just lost his GM heath care. Non union. White collar. What's he to do now? People are living longer. Better nutrition. Better heath care. Better treatment available. I know a 40 year old guy down the street that had a intestine infection. 5 years ago this would have killed him. He was saved but now has 300K medical bills. Go figure..you could never pay that off. Just some ongoing GM problems. A lot a GM problems will die of in 10 years. Very sad to say..people. MAC
I will always look to buy American. And I will look at Cadillac first--Hopefully they will still be around. I would like to buy a 2006-2008 STS. I think my next Cadillac will be the STS.

adallak
I own ONLY GM products. I plan to continue buying GM cars as long as they keep making Cadillacs and I can afford them. I also own Colt pistols, Winchester shotguns and Winchester rifles. (All AMERICAN made.) The only reason I have a Sony HDTV is, there are no longer any AMERICAN makers of tv's. If there was... I would have bought one. Oh... and I haven't been in a WalMart but MAYBE two or three times in the last year or more. One of those times was to get a new BUCK pocket knife. (AMERICAN made, of course) Just bought an USA made Buck 110 from local Wal-Mart. Only $26.88 and I can tell you that knife is worth it!! A little present for my birthday. I am 50 today, folks. WarrenJ
I better save! I don't think unemployment will be an excuse! We could make it my treat this year. For those that don't understand, Mike and I share July birthdays and a neighborhood. Last year was my dinner treat; this year is Mike's turn. Traditionally, Mike picks the restaurant. It sounds like it might be White Castle this year. Regards, Warren There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. I've not been to Gallagher's, but I actually have a bottle of Peter Luger's Steak Sauce in my fridge. Does that count? I recently dined with my brother at Johnny Utah's across from Radio City Music Hall. You could have cut that steak with a fork! I've never had better.
