AtlantaMc
I have a 97 Deville, and was wondering if the "Invisicord Product" could be used on rear view mirror for power. If not? What would be the best way to hardwire and hide the power cord... Thanks in advance for any info.!! KHE
I have my Passpoet 9500-X50 hardwired in my Fleetwood Brougham - I found a terminal on the fuse panel that was hot in run only. On my STS, I attempted to hook it into the power feed for the sunroof but that didn't work - the sunroof wouldn't operate... I am going to try to tap into the mirror power so when the ignition key is off, the radar detector is off. AtlantaMc
Thanks Kevin for the info.. I might just hook it up to the front cig. lighter. If I forget to turn unit off for any reason after turning the car off, the car will shut everything down after 10 minutes... Thanks again for the help! Have a great weekend! KHE
I thought about hooking mine into the cigar lighter but I don't want the unit to remain on for 10 minutes after I park - especially anywhere that has automatic door openers... I don't want the radar detector drawing attention to itself. I haven't made the direct wiring a priority on the STS since I drive my Fleetwood for the most part during the spring/summer/early fall. Once it goes into storage for the winter, the direct wiring of the detector in the STS will become a higher priority. Mark Your 97 DeVille may well be different than my '06.... but my cig lighters NEVER cut off. To check if yours DO cut off... plug in something with an indicator light on it. Cell phone charger, radar detector etc etc. Found out the hard way that leaving the cell phone charger AND the radar detector plugged in (and ON)for over a week... killed the battery. lothos
Mine doesn't cut off either in my 1995. But I've read on here that there's two positions for the fuse, one supplies constant power and one cuts off power after a delay. Bruce Nunnally
Here is the basic idea: On DeVille and Seville Move fuse 22 and/or fuse 23 to the outer position in the Bussed Electrical Center. The cigar lighter and accessory plugs will have power at all times. On CTS Move the IP outlet and outlet fuse to the open cavity next to each fuse in the under hood Bussed Electrical Center. The cigar lighter and accessory plugs will have power at all times. jlinde
I have soldered a new connection at the light sensitive rear view mirror on a 92 STS -it has 3 wires -going into mirror one is +12v = on ignition, one is ground =always and one is connected to reverse -some mirrors also have a connection for 2 wires for electrocromatic outside mirror(s). Anyhow the radar and camera detector works OK -on and off with ignition. And the wires are hidden as well as the detector by the windshields upper shaded area. /Jan L
