Dave in Texas
Replacing the oil-pan gasket did not fix my leak, I've got a sinking feeling my engine has the cracked block at the cam boss. A parts guy has a good 4.9L that he claims will accept the heads/exhaust manifolds/etc from my engine and I'm good to go. As I understand: the 4.1 was bored to 4.5 and the 4.9 is a 4.5 with a different crankshaft and stroke...is that right? The blocks mounted the same? My transaxle will mate to the 4.9? Does this seem like a worthy project? His price for doing the work is reasonable. Thanks for any advice/info! GM Reman 4.1 engine Dec '
