lothos
I noticed WalMart is carrying ACDelco oil filters now. I couldn't find the PF58 listed in my manual, but I noticed on RockAuto they list the PF61 for it. Found out on here that it's the updated oil filter. I've heard stories of companies making cheaper versions of their products for sale at WalMart because WalMart pressures them into lower and lower prices. Anyone know if this is the same ACDelco filter you can get at other suppliers? The price is lower than RockAuto even. WARNING: I'm a total car newbie, don't be surprised if I ask a stupid question! lothos
I ended up getting a Fram ToughGuard or something, but I'm going to go exchange it tonight now that I know what the updated part number is. KHE
The PF-61 is a direct replacement for the PF-58. The filters at Walmart are probably the PF-61 - I wouldn't hesitate to use them. BodybyFisher
I had heard the same thing about Home Depot, that the electric hand tools they sell are sort of like factory seconds and they can sell them cheaper as a result. Not to go off topic, but this week I had to call Black and Decker because a steam iron I bought was depositing its NO STICK coating on my shirts. They had not heard of that problem and they are sending out a replacement for it immediately. The iron I have was made in China. It ruined about 5 of my shirts. I was happy that Black and Decker stood behind the product. I looked at my old iron and it was Made in the USA, I think I will save it as it will be a collectors item someday Back to the oil filter, I will be PO'd if they start selling KNOCK OFF items like that. 93STSpieceofcrapmoneypit
Advance Autoparts sells ACDelco PF61. http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail....e=1&PTSet=A Good tip!! With your user name being what it is I'd have to be hard pressed. I, however, do find it entertaining. The definition of an enthusiast is "a person filled with enthusiasm" or " one who is ardently attached to a cause, object, or pursuit." Then there is my personal favorite "one who tends to become ardently absorbed in an interest." I would call the last one fanatic, bordering on unhealthy. I think I'd rather be an enthusiast as opposed to a fanatic. CADS RULE DUDES! Alright Alright Alright...
lothos
I went back to WalMart and exchanged the Fram ToughGuard for an ACDelco PF61. I got almost two dollars back. At the WalMart I stopped at, the ACDelco PF61 was around 3.75 plus tax while the Fram was almost six bucks. They had a fair amount of the PF61 along with a few other ACDelco oil filters.
