umoms
While I drive my 2006 Cadillac Escalade the traction control display will randomly come on and prevent the car from moving forward. This typically happens when the car is stopped and I try to accelerate. Any idea on what the problem could be. It has 72k miles. I just bought it 5k miles ago. Cadillac Jim
This sounds like a low tire slipping as you begin to accelerate, but I'm sure you would have noticed that. Can the OBD codes be read on an Escalade? On most Northstar Cadillacs, here's how: http://www.caddyinfo.com/readingcodes.html If you can read the codes, post them here. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. Bruce Nunnally
I don't think the Escalade has onboard diagnostics. If you have OnStar you can ask them if you have any current DTC (diagnostic) codes. Otherwise you will need to use a scan tool. Is this a 2WD or AWD Escalade? Proper operation of the traction control system (TCS) is highly dependent on the ability to apply brake pressure to a selected wheel, through the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV), as commanded by the electronic brake control module (EBCM). The EBCM may not be able to detect certain mechanical failures that may cause the TCS to perform poorly. This diagnostic procedure is designed to help diagnose concerns of excessive wheel slip or dragging brakes during acceleration, which may occur without the presence of any DTCs. BodybyFisher
Either buy a code reader for about $60 for OBD2 (CAN) vehicles or go to an autoparts store that can read them for you. Get your codes. Its possible that you have a bad hub bearing, bad or intermittant connection at the wheel or as was noted wheel slip. Does this happen under all types of acceleration from the curb (hard acceleration or normal acceleration)? Cadillac Jim
Anybody that does state emissions inspection or repairs will have a code reader. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. umoms
Will a OBDII give me codes even though the check engine light is not on? And this is happening only intermittently?
