Bruce Nunnally
I have a couple of 'car' vacuum cleaners I picked up from wal-mart or other discount places. Usually they cost under $30 and work ok when new then progressively worse. Yes, I know to clean the filters but they don't seem to be very good at cleaning. I cleaned my mats over the weekend with our "Little Green Machine" which is a cleaning solution + water wet vac type cleaner. It works great for household stains, but I probably don't have the right solution for car mats as it worked but not as well as I have seen it work on pet stains, etc. inside the house. It is not really convenient to use in the car itself, although it IS a vacuum cleaner and has a hose attachment, so could be used in the car also. But I was thinking perhaps it would be good to have a 'real' car vacuum. What do you use for vacuuming the car? Regis
I've tried a couple of those car vacuums with unimpressive results as well. Most of the time I found myself having to coax unwanted debris towards the intake opening. I use a small shop vac with great results. $30-40 new but we got ours for $15 at a garage sale. For stained floor mats I use dish soap, tooth brush, and the garden hose at high pressure. BodybyFisher
I have good luck with a full size shop vac and its attachments, nothing has better vacuum power. In addition, the carpet steam cleaners that you can rent at the grocery store for $20 a day work great. Make sure you take the hand assembly when you rent it. WarrenJ
I use this critter at work: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=...amp;dcaid=17902 The hose can be detached from the nose piece and used with attachments of your choice. Nothing but accolades. Battery not included (it mounts directly underneath the "DeWalt" logo). Bruce Nunnally
Is this the one you mean Warren? DeWalt 12V - 18V 2 Gallon Cordless/Corded Wet/Dry Vacuum - DC500 Appears to cost $100-$115 without a $55 battery pack (required), so $155-170 total. Ranger
Shop vac works for me. I have one in the garage, one on my radial arm saw and another in my metal working area.
