JimD
I have purchased tires from Discount Tire many times since the 1980's. But I had a bad (really bad) experience at a Discount Tire location in Kennesaw, GA, on June 25th of this year. They somehow figured out how to mess up the threads on three bolts (on the same wheel) during the install of four new tires. The store manager said they did not have the parts or the tools to do a repair and gave me the address of a shop that could replace the studs/nuts and was willing to bill Discount Tire (does that sound like maybe screwing up threads has happened more than once?). But the shop was 25 miles away and could not schedule the repair for several days. And here I am with two lug nuts holding one of my wheels in place. I proceeded to the local Cadillac dealer and got the studs replaced within hours and presented a copy of the repair invoice ($254.21) to the Discount Tire store manager the next day. Two weeks later, I gave the store manager another copy of the repair invoice. And two weeks later, I gave him another copy of the repair invoice. And two weeks later, I did it again. The check arrived on August 12. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE !
Bruce Nunnally
That seems VERY frustrating, but glad you got the refund in the end. Note that with the tires direct you have to pay the local store to mount the tires, and for freight to you, so it may not be a better deal than http://www.discounttire.com . I would like to have a fully equipped garage some day with tire mount and balance machines.
