Bill4209
Is it true that all I need to do is remove the caliper and then the caliper bracket and then the rotor will come off?

Bill4209
Yup. What the heck holds it on? The lug studs?
KHE
Yup. What the heck holds it on? The lug studs? They are fastened by the lug nuts holding the wheel against the hub portion of the rotor. Replacing brake rotors on a FWD car is a cakewalk compared to rear wheel drive cars. lothos
I've been meaning to ask, what kind of tool do you need to undo the caliper? Ranger
I think GM is still using an Allen head bolt. You can get an Allen head socket. Or cut the "L" off of an Allen wrench and stick it in a socket. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Help-Brake-...7QQcmdZViewItem

BodybyFisher
Yup. What the heck holds it on? The lug studs? Five lug nuts pressing the rotor into the hub bearing flange each having 100 lb ft of torque applied to them. That is why its important to make sure that the hub bearing flange and inside of the rotor are clean of rust and dirt. My 98 Deville caliper and bracket have 15mm bolt heads.... Maybe they have changed. I know they used those Allen head for many, many years. I want to say it is a 3/8" if it's still used. 95SevilleSLS
Yep, my 02 is also 15 mm bolts, but my 93 was the allen head bolt. If I remember right, my 95 was also 15mm bolts, but I'm not positive. -Dusty- - 02 Seville STS, white diamond - 93 Sixty Special, Tan with vinyl top - 79 Coupe DeVille, Tan with Tan top - 06 GMC Sierra Z71, Black - 92 Silverado C1500, black and grey - 83 Chevy K10 Silverado, Black and Grey
