95SevilleSLS
Okay, so I found the coolest thing on this Sixty Special. The Cadillac badge on the vinyl top actually lights up at night! It looks so neat at night, the only problem is, the passenger side is out. My question is, how in the world do you replace the bulb or LED or whatever is in there. Here is the picture of what I'm talking about: I really want to get this fixed before the wedding! Cadillac Jim
If you have the owner's manual, that is your best bet. If not, I would look on the inside, particularly around the reading lights for the back seat, and see if there is a socket that you can pull off from the inside to change the bulb. Beyond that, I would ask the dealer at the walk-up parts counter when I order the bulb (take a print of your picture with you). -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. KHE
There is not a bulb in those emblems - they operate on the same principle as the coach lights on the older Fleetwood Broughams. The lights or emblems run on 120 volts AC that is produced by an inverter. Usually, the inverter goes bad and fries both lights but that isn't the case here. Use a volt meter and verify there is 120 volts AC at the terminals to the emblem that is not working. If the proper voltage is at the terminals, the emblem is bad. If the emblem is still available, it is going to be expensive. Kevin '93 Fleetwood Brougham '05 Deville '04 Deville 2013 Silverado Z71

Why 120 volts I wonder, why not just 12 volts? The electroluminicent design of the fixture requires AC voltage to make the strip glow. It is a conductive film that lights uniformly unlike the first generation of opra lights that had a single 12V bulb. Those had a bright spot where the bulb was and the intensity faded towards the ends. They look really nice but are very expensive when purchased as a service part.
