Bruce Nunnally
Your Cadillac has onboard diagnostics which can help us to understand why the service engine light is on. Please refer to the How-to section here: http://www.caddyinfo.com/readingcodes.html and post any history and current codes you find, noting which are history and which are current. Ranger
"PCM?" is asking if you want to continue into the PCM mode.

Ranger
Try cleaning the TB bore and throttle plate before you replace anything. Remember to rod out the EGR tubes down in the TB. That may be the cause of the P048. If you answer yes to PCM? you get into the PCM mode where you can then go into the data and override modes. In the data mode you can see things like RPM, engine temp, O2 sensor cross counts, and many many other observations that can be com[pared to the FSM parameters to tell if things are working as designed. Override mode obviously lets you override things, like shutting off injectors one by one to test them just to name one.
sndnappi
this is all greek to me should i just leave the pcm thing alone??? and how do we get the service engine light soon off and what is egr system malfunction mean?
Ranger
If this is all Greek to you, stay out of the PCM mode. It's most likely P048 and P055 that turned the light on. You make the light go off by repairing what turned it on. EGR malfunction means just that. The EGR system is no functioning properly. Start by cleaning the TB and EGR tubes. Then you can clear the codes and see if they return.
