Ranger
The dealer needs to inject a dye and locate the leak once and for all.
KHE
A tech should be able to hear a leak that bad... A leak that empties the system in 15 minutes is MASSIVE. Kevin '93 Fleetwood Brougham '05 Deville '04 Deville 2013 Silverado Z71
navion
A tech should be able to hear a leak that bad... A leak that empties the system in 15 minutes is MASSIVE. I just hate it when stuff like this happens. When you say that he "replaced the hose again" indicates to me that he is using salvaged hoses. Apparently the dealer's mechanic has been told to band-aid the A/C to save a few bucks. This has already cost someone two (actually three before you are done) full charges of freon and you, your time. I would politely suggest that if the dealer's mechanic cannot properly repair the A/C, that he cut you a check for $500.00 & you go to a reputable shop and get the unit repaired. If he insists that his mechanic repair the system, you need to ask for a minimum warranty of a year on the A/C system. Like Kevin says, anyone who is not deaf should have been able to hear a leak of that magnitude, let alone see it on his gage set. This is assuming that he actually HAS a gage set! An A/C tech who knowingly charges a leaking system is violating the law. Good Luck, Britt Britt
