Regis
Sold the 94 STS early this week with 234K miles on the ticker. My wife and I are expecting a little one soon and wanted a more kid friendly/grocery getter. I wanted an SRX but couldn't find one in the price range I was looking for. I also looked at the Saturn Vue (Redline edition), toyota highlander, and honda pilot. In the end I ended up with a honda pilot exl. Fully loaded with leather, heated seats, exterior temp read out, on and on. But when it's all said and done, it's no Cadillac. My wife understands my gripe and just smiles pleasantly. I put a lot of myself into that car and I reckon no one can blame me for getting a tear in my eye as I watched the new owner drive away with the ol girl. The gentleman seemed to appreciate the finer aspects of the Cadillac as I told him the ins and outs. He commented repeatedly (as did his friend) how good a shape the caddy was in. I'm sure he wanted it but I insisted that we go for a test drive. Had him WOT on the highway and coast it down from 80mph. It was a done deal. I'm glad the caddy went to someone who seemed as excited to drive it as I have been. She will be sorely missed. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this wonder discussion board. And thanks to all of its members, their time, and help. Keep up the good work. I'll still stop in now and then to keep up on Cadillac, this board, to say Hi, and to make sure BBF is doing his job. Regards, Regis p.s. I have a set of coils and ICM (oem) from the 94STS if someone is interested. Make me an offer. Bruce Nunnally
Congrats on the new Minivan. Also great that you have a baby otw; I had to sell my Porsche 944 after our first was born. Certainly ownership has never been a prime criteria for participation here, so please don't feel you have to wander off, but rather that you are 'between Cadillacs' instead. "Cadillacs will get you through times of no Women better than Women will get you through times of no Cadillacs", as we used to say about one of the other car marques. Once you get luxury performance in the blood, you'll want to get back into a Cadillac another day I bet. Logan
I agree, my wife has a VUE. Been pretty good car. But its not a Cadillac. I had a rental car when the DTS was being repaired for hail damage. Had a Chrysler rental. But its not a Cadillac. I'm thinking of a used GTO maybe. Poor man's Corvette. But I know..it's not a Cadillac. For me.... you might as well castrate me. LOL. Thanks for the well wishes Bruce. I have a feeling I'll be back in a Cadillac "soon". I have an itch and it'll need a caddy to scratch it. Thanks for everything. "Burns" rubber " I've never considered myself to be all that conservative, but it seems the more liberal some people get the more conservative I become. BodybyFisher
Regis, it was because of Cadillac that we became friends but I know we will remain friends going forward. You and I have had some good conversations and I have benefited from your insight and practicality. I am/was sad to know that you would be selling the Seville, but of course I understand. It will be necessary for you to indoctrinate your little one about the Cadillac one day as I have my daughter, so I know you will be back some day. Good luck with the new car.. Thanks again for providing that service. It was worth every cent. Bruce Nunnally
Woops, sorry. I knew the Pilot was an SUV, but when you mention kiddo's I think minivan. When we got our Moutaineer we were cross-shopping the Pilot which had just come out back then. The Honda dealer assured me that the Pilot was not in the same class as the Explorer/Mountaineer. I told him he better hope it was, since they are the best sellers in the class. Then he swapped to telling us about the great Honda resale value, til my Wife pointed out that they were offerring us next to zippo on the Honda we were planning to trade in. At the time Mercury was offering 0% for 5 years, so that decided the deal and made the less expensive Pilot cost more than the more expensive Mountaineer. I still remember the Honda Dealer sitting QUIET for a change, trying to figure out how to sell ice to Eskimos. Speak to you soon, There goes my idea about contacting GM and pitching them the idea to run reverse advertising about an Asian guy driving a Cadillac and hitting the 300K mile mark. I could've spoke broken English too if they thought it would help. LOL. Oh well.... on to the next great idea. Thanks BBF for always supporting my crazy ideas and take on things. You know I aim to entertain if nothing else. Everything you said above is true. You'll never get rid of me mahahahaaaa. We'll talk soon. WarrenJ
Congrats, Regis, on both new arrivals! 93STSpieceofcrapmoneypit
I have a feeling I'll be back in a Cadillac "soon". I have an itch and it'll need a caddy to scratch it. I got a great 93 STS for ya!! "Alright, alright, alrighhhhhhhht..." With your user name being what it is I'd have to be hard pressed. I, however, do find it entertaining. The definition of an enthusiast is "a person filled with enthusiasm" or " one who is ardently attached to a cause, object, or pursuit." Then there is my personal favorite "one who tends to become ardently absorbed in an interest." I would call the last one fanatic, bordering on unhealthy. I think I'd rather be an enthusiast as opposed to a fanatic. CADS RULE DUDES! Alright Alright Alright...
Regis
Congrats, Regis, on both new arrivals! Regards, Warren Thanks Warren. I just became an uncle for the first time 3 weeks ago. I've had the pleasure of holding my new niece and getting a preview of things to come....first hand. Aside from the dirty diapers, spit up, crying, feeding, dirty diapers, spit up, feeding, crying.......I'm looking forward to the experience. LOL. Surely the worst car in the world never required this much "maintenance". The big question still remains: pink coverall or blue? Either way my future little buddy will be under the car with me. Wife just shakes her head. "Burns" rubber " I've never considered myself to be all that conservative, but it seems the more liberal some people get the more conservative I become. Right now I'm interested in a 99ETC, 00+ CTS and STS. I've also heard a rumor that my wife's grandfather, whom I've become quite fond of, is restoring and customizing an old pickup for me. If it's anything like the others he's done then it'll satisfy my need for speed and then some. His norm is to lower, custom engine, headers, custom exhaust, tranny, wheels, but keep the interior original. Of course it's just a rumor so I don't want to get myself all worked up. Enjoy raising your child, after all, that is what we are here for! Britt PS: I'm betting that there is a Caddy out there somewhere with your name on it! Hi Britt, Thanks for the encouraging words. Things will certainly be different. Oh and I'm sure there is a caddy out there with my name on it too. They keep trying to run me off the road LOL. You know, I notice more Cadillacs on the road now then I did when I had one. And what struck me strange was that there was a beautiful Deville parked on the front lawn of our neighbors across the street today. Right there smack dab against the road for me to stare at. It's never been there before. Perhaps it's a sign.
