hjohns17h
This is my first question. My check engine light came on and went to autozone for a free chk engine light and was told this is my cam sensor. Could someone please direct me on what options I have. Bruce Nunnally
The cam sensors do fail and have to be replaced now and then. Do you feel comfortable with somewhat complex automotive repairs? Do you have access to a factory service manual for your Cadillac? Otherwise I would consider taking it to a independent mechanic who specializes in Cadillacs or to a Dealer for repair. WarrenJ
It would be best, in my opinion, to start from the beginning. What is your complaint/problem? We'd need to know which engine you have. 3.6L or 4.6L? They're some great kids at AutoZone and they're some young peanut counters there also. Occasionally you'll find a talented adult. Could happen! If you could supply the appropriate diagnostic code that would be very helpful. Regards, Warren EDIT: Generally speaking, camshaft sensor replacement is straightforward and not too difficult. It's best, however, to have a Factory Service Manual at hand. You can find the same manual used by Cadillac mechanics at: http://www.helminc.com . Some here have that manual and can provide you with help. There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises
