lothos
I need a fuel pressure regulator for my 1995 STS. I have the metal fuel rail and need the second design of the FPR. All I can find a part number for is the first design meant for the plastic fuel rail. The second design was listed on rockauto.com but isn't up there currently, and GMPartsDirect lists the first design only. Anyone know the part number for the updated 1995 STS fuel pressure regulator? Or know where I can find out? WARNING: I'm a total car newbie, don't be surprised if I ask a stupid question! Just trying to learn. lothos
There's also an FPR Seal Kit on rockauto. It's 12 bucks, while an original FPR is 100 and the updated one is around 60 if I remember right. Looking at the photo it looks like this replaces the O rings and screen. What about the rubber diaphragm thing? Would going this route fix what's wrong with my FPR? Does the kit replace everything inside the FPR? That would definitely be the cheapest way to go. How do I tell if I have the original FPR, or the updated FPR? There's a different kit depending on which one you have. I think I found the part number for the second-design FPR. ACDelco.com doesn't list any applications for it, can anyone help me verify this is the right part for my 1995 STS? lothos
I suspect I might still have the first design FPR, and it was put back on after the fuel rail got replaced in the recall. I went ahead and ordered that part number I posted, I think it's probably the second design FPR. I think I'd rather have the second design FPR that's meant for the metal fuel rail instead of replacing the insides of the FPR meant for the nylon fuel rail. lothos
I changed my FPR today. The updated part number I found seems to work. Here's a picture of the old FPR on top, and the new FPR on bottom. The old FPR seemed to come apart. The screen had a few holes in it. The small black O ring was also stuck, that's what the yellow tool is for. It's from a computer toolkit, you push it in like a syringe and three prongs pop out the bottom... it's for grabbing screws that fall down in a computer (can't use magnets inside a computer) The only difference I could see between my old FPR and the new FPR was the nozzle below the screen was a little different. I'm not sure if I had the updated one already, or if this is the updated one. WARNING: I'm a total car newbie, don't be surprised if I ask a stupid question! Just trying to learn.
