Help with pulling antenna and motor 1995 STS

I need a new antenna, mine is stuck up now after I adjusted my ISC actuator and did the idle learn procedure. I can hear the motor running, I'm assuming the linkage inside broke. From the sounds of it the replacement cable isn't available any longer. I'd like to pull one from the junk yard after work tonight.

I'm assuming after I unbolt the motor that the antenna will slide through. There's a rubber gasket on the body with a weird multi-toothed bolt looking thing on it. Is there a special tool for that?

I don't have my FSM with me, is it as easy as I think it would be, or are there any special hints or instructions?

Thanks guys!

Use a 14mm 12-point socket to remove the upper escutcheon. This will release the antenna assembly from the body. If you antenna mast does not retract then you need to remove the top-most piece of the mast (i.e., the finial). You may need to heat it gently to loosen/warm any locktite glue originally used in assembly<--I use a rag and pliers to grip the mast and a good fitting small wrench to remove the finial. You should now be able to pull the antenna mast out of the antenna assembly. Once the mast has been removed you can now remove your assembly after disconnecting the electrical. I bet you need a new nylon cable. They are available through (they are very helpful on phone and it looks OEM to me):

Note: GM also has them through an alternate part number as it was similar to other FWD models of that time as PN 22100456 (i.e., pontiac, buick, etc.) The kit is ca $85 and includes a stainless steel mast. Problem is the mast varies in diameter which may lead to searching in the junk yard for a good fitting lower mast section (more than you probably ever wanted to know). If your antenna isn't broke then just replace the nylon cable.

Good luck.

I can pull an antenna for ten bucks from this yard by my house. I'm going to try to borrow that socket from someone and just grab an antenna. If that doesn't work out or if the socket is more than a couple bucks I'll order that cable.

Thank you for the information and link, I appreciate the help.
