The LAC..... AKA The sleepmobile

Recommended Posts

My friends and I have noticed that when we go out in the lac at night it almost puts us to sleep... I mean it is so quiet and smooth and isolated from noise.... My passengers almost always fall asleep and i have come close.. Anyone else?

I am sure its due to the leather seats and comfort. Turn up the stereo, and hand out the energy drinks!

I agree that our Caddies ride smooth. But reading your post made the aircraft mechanic part of me sit up & take notice. If you are becoming excessively sleepy while driving your Caddy, it could be more than just a quiet ride causing it.

Carbon monoxide poisoning could be the cause. A small exhaust leak into the car's passenger space will cause drowsiness. Allowed to continue, you could pass out from oxygen starvation.

Now, the likelyhood of this happening to your Caddy is slim, but it is worth checking out. An inexpensive Carbon monoxide detector is available from several sources. One of these is Sporty's Pilot Shop. (www.sportys.com) It is a little card that has a spot that will change color in the presence of CO. Or if you have an electronic CO detector in your home, you could carry that in the car, just to see if the alarm will go off.

If you have ANY doubt, get the exhaust system checked.

Take Care,

Britt

you need more exciting friends. i never get bored driving my car. in fact i have to watch it since i tend to drive too fast. my drive to work is only 7 miles and its split 50/50 side roads and highway so i like to drive fast. on ramps and cloverleafs are fun.

Hey guys..... Good point about the carbon monoxide... I will have to check into that...... I dont know if i have magnaride or not.. How can you tell.... That would be a funny commercial for Monster Energy drinks.... Having to pass them out once you get in the caddy to stay awake.. LOL...

I think what it is.. is it is usually late at night and the radio is off....

Thanks guys.. Just wanted to share...

Occasionally I'll have a day at work that leaves me with a lower back pain. Five minutes after I'm in that great car seat all the pain is gone.

Mind you I'm not ready to fall asleep, but the comfort is grandly appreciated. ;)

Warren

There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises

Definitely check Britt's suggestion, when I was a kid, it was something that often came up, kudos to Britt for being so tuned in. Muffler systems were often compromised on cars when I was young, and it was an issue. That is what is so great about this board and this type of 'brainstorming', you can get so much thought provoking information based on others experience. On the other hand you can get MY post, regarding the stereo and energy drinks because I was SO FAR off base,
