caddyon20s
Hello today my 99 deville came up with this code p0147 i think its an oxigen sensor,, im thinking it could be the same one my local mechanic fixed last year its the one under front of the ingine. when i took my car in for repair he said that one of the wires was burnt or something so from the front oxygen sensor he run a wire to the rear oxigen sensor and said that getting the power from the rear oxygen sensor would fix the problem, i kinda dindt like having a wire running from on sensor running to the other i thought that was gonna mess things up but the light never came back again till today anybody knows what i can do??? Cadillac Jim
P0147 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Heater Performance Bank 1 Sensor 3 I believe that this is the oxygen sensor at the rear of the catalytic converter. It's not the sensor itself, it's the heater circuit, which just needs power, although it can be set if the sensor itself isn't working instead of the "right" one, P0146 or another HO2S performance code. The heater circuits are just power and won't cause the sensors to interact. My FSM doesn't apply to your car. Someone with a schematic that apples to the 1999 Deville can check this out. The 1997 FSM, page 6-370, says that P0147 refers to the one on the rear of the cat and that it is on a separate fuse than the heater for the other HO2S. What your mechanic did was to put them on the same fuse. I would check the fuses in the block under the plastic cover behind the air cleaner (if that's where the right fuse block iis on the 1999 Deville). Look for 10 A fuses marked OXY SEN 1 and OXY SEN 2. If they are both blown, then that's what was wrong with the front cat HO2S last year. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. Ranger
I'd replace the sensor and put the wiring back the way it was.

Cadillac Jim
P0146 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Circuit Insufficient Activity Bank 1 Sensor 3 This code means that the same HO2S not only doesn't respond to the heater voltage, it doesn't respond to much else, either. I would follow Ranger's advice, except that I would put the wiring back like it is supposed to be first, just in case the sensor is OK.
