BodybyFisher
This is really hard to say what it is, when they drop the pan, see if there is any sediment. DO take it to a reputible shop and DO NOT let them know that you might be having any problems. STAY AWAY from AAMCO at all cost, you WILL have a problem. Change the fluid and filters and see what you get, you are not getting any codes, if you DID have a tranny problem you would be getting codes, trust me. There are problems that WILL cause it to shift hard like the ISS speed sensor, the pressure solenoid, but you are not getting codes. BodybyFisher
Aamco, where to start.... Transmissions are scary devices. Aamco plays on the scaryness. Combine that with the fact that they make money selling tranny rebuilds and a few that I have experienced that are crooked and its a bad combination. "Short" Story My girlfriend in college had a Dodge Swinger, she took it to Aamco before I could say anything. I used to get trannies from the junk yard for $100 and swap them in and would have done that. Anyway, the gets the "lifetime' my arse, guarantee, for some $700 (this is 1977 mind you)... OK... , within a month, it starts leaking from the front seal. I go to the shop with her, we are sitting in the waiting room. The mechanic comes in, calls us up to the desk and says I have BAD news for you, someone put BRAKE FLUID in the transmission and that caused the problem. After some YELLING where I proceeded to tell them that ONLY I put fluid in the tranny, but that I was a FIRST CLASS mechanic at SUN SHIPBUILDING & DRYDOCK, in Chester, Pa, and just got done rebuilding a Turbohydromatic 400, in my garage with HOMEMADE tools and a 429 Caddy engine and that I installed the CRANES on the Howard Hughes Glomar Explorer and that there was NO WAY in HELL that there was BRAKE FLUID in it. THEY DID NOT BACK OFF. Fixed the car and VOIDED the "LIFETIME" guarantee. They are a SCAM, steer clear, I only need ONE bad experience. I have heard of a bunch of these types of experiences and had one of my own with my 91 Seville. They know they have your by the short hairs. BodybyFisher
Dana, I see you are from Philadelphia. I was born in Philadelphia, went to St Francis de Sales at 47th and Springfield, moved to Havertown and attended Cardinal O'Hara, then Haverford. I got a basketball scholarship to college and came to NY and got STUCK. During the summers I worked at Sun Ship where we built tankers and the CIA ship the Howard Hughes Glomar Explorer, that was built to pick up a sunken Russian sub. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glomar_Explorer Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm

BodybyFisher
Even though the Wikipedia article did not mention it, I am pretty sure that the Glomar Explorer was used in the movie The Abyss. I was in Chicago on business, and was excited to go and see The Abyss, it was billed as potentially a great movie at the time, although many disliked it. Well you should have seen my face, when the Glomar Explorer appeared, I almost fell out of my seat! I did not find out until the mid-90s that the Glomar Explorer was built to pick up the Russian sub, we were told it was a mining ship with an ODD amount of security all around it It was pretty cool to be involve with Howard Hughes (even though that ended up being a SCAM), and I read about Hughes. Seeing the AVIATOR recently for me was very interesting. "ARE THE TRANNY'S IN A 95 STS THE SAME AS THE ONES IN THE 2000 MODEL??" I don't have the facilities to rebuild a transmission or the equipment. In the old days you could drop out a TH350, TH400, TH425 with ease (and a tranny jack) and I got good at swapping trannies including Ford C4 and C6's. Once you work in a ship yard and get involved in removing a 40 ton SCREW/PROP from a shaft because it was damaged, removing a transmission was childsplay. I learned a lot there. BodybyFisher
I doubt that you could interchange 95 and 00 transmissions, due to electronics changes and case changes, to name a few problems.
