Parts to pull from a junked cadillac?

lothos

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

My buddy works at a junkyard and he told me that there's a Cadi going out on the lot later this week. He's not sure but thinks it's the same STS body style as mine. Prices are really reasonable, whole doors are $36, rims are $30 or so. I need a driver's side back door, mine has a dent from a deer. I also need a gas filler door, mine has rust bubbles on it.

So the question is, what else should I pull? Parts that fail often, like alternators or fuel injectors, anything else?

Will rims from any Cadillac fit my 95 STS as long as it's from a front wheel drive model?

If anyone from Minnesota or Wisconsin needs parts or would like to join me, let me know. I'm also willing to mail small parts.

WARNING: I'm a total car newbie, don't be surprised if I ask a stupid question! Just trying to learn.

Cheers!

hi lothos, you might want to buy the PCM(?) the computer thing behind the glovebox,

if you can get it cheap, it would be nice for you to have a spare and you could sell it

at a profit if bought cheaply ...

i have a 96 concours and i might be interested in a center cover for a wheel and

does it have the CD stereo ???

i thought about it a little more and here are a few more things that i would get ...

radio antena and motor

trunk pull down motor assy.

remote key(trunk and door opener)

all car keys, esp. ing. keys( you can measure the res. and post it and one of us would surely want it) ...

resistors, fuses and such(if dirt cheap)

EGR

that is some of what i would buy if cheap ...

I'll check for the center cover and cd player for you.

EDIT: Which center caps? Mine say STS, I imagine you want the Cadillac leaf symbol?

Hi, I would take care of the computer controlled shock absorbers (maybe they differ for different years), the computers behind the rear seat (RSS and ABS). Something that I (although I live in Sweden) would be interested in is: The outer tail lights ( you have red turn signal lights and Europe use

amber) but I need the outer clear plastic to replace cracked ones. Also the high mounted stop light if it works of course as well as the headlights - I will convert from our H4 reflectors to your 9005-9006 type. The 92-97 Sevilles have the same exterior. /Jan L.

I will check and see what I can do for you. The car won't have a battery so I'm not sure how I can test the high-mount stop light. I've actually mailed things to Sweden before, I have friends in both Malmo and Stockholm. I'd only charge you what the parts cost me plus shipping if that works for you.

My buddy told me the car looked exactly like mine, black STS, and it was mint. I'm just waiting for the fluids to be drained and it to be put out on the lot. I imagine that will happen in the next couple days, and I'll get out there as soon as possible.

EDIT: Car should be on the lot by Wednesday May 7th.

I think I'm going to also grab a spare coil pack, anything else that would be useful to get?

It's the U Pull R Parts in Rosemount. It's the first STS they've ever gotten in. They don't always update the website inventory list right away, but my buddy that works there is going to call me as soon as he sees it go on the lot. It should happen by wednesday or thursday of next week. I was thinking of taking a half day off work when it goes out on the lot. I'll be going by myself, you're more than welcome to come with me if you'd like. The lot is open til 6:30 during the week. You can PM me your phone number and I can give you a call, and we can beat the rush to it. :D

I've got dibs on the back drivers side door and the gas filler door though!

Well, got some bad news from my buddy. That black STS was too nice and the owner of the junk yard decided to keep it. It had a bad transmission was what I was told, not sure if it's just the solenoids or not. So bad news for me, because I'm not going to be getting a cheap door to fix my dent.

There's a green 96 STS on the lot that I'll be pulling stuff from tomorrow. I'll let you guys know if I'm able to get what you requested.

Couple questions, is the gas cap filler door the same on the STS as it is on the Seville? What about the back doors?

Are the fuel injectors from an OBD I car the same as an OBDII car?

Well ACDelco.com says that the part number for my injector is only for 1995 Eldorado Seville Concourse and Oldsmobile Auroras. That's disappointing.

Anyone know about the rear drivers side door and the fuel filler door? What are they interchangable with?
