JACK
1999 STS FUEL GAUGE IS STUCK ON FULL , IT MOVES AFTER MANY MILES OF DRIVING AND THEN SLOWLY GOES BACK TO FULL. I'M THINKING IT'S THE SENDING UNIT IN TANK BUT WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE BEFORE CHANGING FUEL PUMP AND SENDING UNIT AS IT IS QUITE EXPENSIVE. DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM CHANGING IT IF THAT IS THE PROBLEM BUT DON'T WANT TO WASTE TIME AND MONEY IF POSSIBLY ANOTHER FAULT. THANK'S FOR ANY HELP ON THIS MATTER. Ranger
Kinda sounds like a sending unit to me also but don't change anything on my word. Keep in mind however, that the fuel pump and sending unit are seperate and may be changed independently.
bigfoo
I had the exact same problem with mine.. my wife ran out of gas once on it too.. replaced the sending unit and everything was back to normal..

Maybe the setup has changed, but I'd get a second opinion.
