Spurlee
I'm looking to replace my 1996 El Dorado and wasn't considering an XLR until I glanced at some in the local trader paper - High $30's to Mid $40's for cars with 10,000 miles on them. I went to a couple of dealers and found the same thing. Weren't these $100,000 cars just 18 months ago? Wow! Some folks are taking a big hit! I'm going to try and find one in the $35,000 range with a "whopping" 20,000 miles on it. Scott 1996 El Dorado 2006 STS 2000 Corvette
steve6
not sure if the msrp was really that high, but checking the canadian trader most are around 50 g's, not too many bad things said about them either on autos.msn.com most luxury cars lose alot of value right off the top though, the real test is keeping that value for the next few years. 95SevilleSLS
The XLR-V was $100,000, but the regular XLR starts at "only" $81,000. Still, I really don't believe in buying a new car. You lose SOOOOO much the first year. But if you got the money to waste, what the hey! -Dusty- - 02 Seville STS, white diamond - 93 Sixty Special, Tan with vinyl top - 79 Coupe DeVille, Tan with Tan top - 06 GMC Sierra Z71, Black - 92 Silverado C1500, black and grey - 83 Chevy K10 Silverado, Black and Grey
WarrenJ
Ask Ed Hall about the cost and availability of Allante replacement parts. I expect maintaining an XLR will be an expensive proposition once it becomes an orphan. Or even before. Regards, Warren There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises

All you have to do is bust your front Allante bumper skin and you'll learn your lesson quickly after spending $1800 for a used bumper skin and another $500 to have it painted and installed. This car has been Corvette's "over priced" and "under powered" red headed step brother. GM forgot years ago that Cadillac buyers want the "BEST car GM makes" when it comes to luxury two seaters... one of the things that makes a car the "BEST" is that its the FASTEST... As long as the XLR is slower then the base Vette... its DOOMED... Its sad... but its true. That is what Cadillac is supposed to symbolize. You can almost buy TWO base Corvettes for what ONE base XLR cost. And to get the XLR-V for performance... it is $100,000. For $75,000 you can get a ZO6 that will smoke the XLR. And have $25,000 bucks left over to play with.
