djazzmo
Ok I guess I am hoping someone is going to tell me something different from what I already know. I looked at a clean 1999 SLS today with 93000 miles at a good price. Appearance wise it was sweet and it ran strong. It had the following codes: Current C1711 History P0300 P1381 U1255 U1064 U1128 Looked them all up but I honestly don't know what the descriptions mean. I guess it had some kind of electrical problem at one time from looking at the history codes. Not sure what the current code means to me. Also another concern was that after driving it about 10 -15 miles I could swear it was running a little hot. Is this as big a red flag as I think it is? Is this as big a red flag as I think it is? What was the temperature reading? Why do you think it was running hot?

Is this as big a red flag as I think it is? What was the temperature reading? Why do you think it was running hot? Well actually this was the second time I drove it. The first time I actually got it out on the highway. Although the temp guage didn't go up I smelled coolant when I looked under the hood. Today after a much shorter drive I tried to look in the resivior but it was too hot to open. When I stopped the car the gauge was at 3/4 which seemed high to me after a short drive. It started to fall pretty quickly but I thought it was still kind of high.
JimD
C1711 - Left Front Damper Actuator Short Circuit to Ground That can be reason enough to back away at any price. But it could also be a false code! One way to know for sure is to clear all codes, test drive for 30 min's, and display the codes again. Codes tagged as "History" are not as important/relevant as "Current" codes. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE !
