gthompson6
My radiator is leaking enough that im getting a check coolant message. With over 155,000 mi, I fiure a new radiator is likely in order. Has anyone had firsthand experience replacing one ? I would like to do it myself if possible, but need to know what i'm getting into beforehand. Thanks in advance for all responses

Is there one on my 99 seville sts ? And if there is one, will it need to be relaced also, or just reconnected to the new radiator ?

JimD
When I checked into buying a new radiator, it says "without oil cooler". Is there one on my 99 seville sts ? And if there is one, will it need to be relaced also, or just reconnected to the new radiator ? If you have an oil cooler, the plumbing starts and ends at the oil filter adapter. Easy enough to check; no plumbing = no oil cooler. I believe '98 was the first year an oil cooler became part of an optional trailer towing package for Sevilles. And few dealers would select that for their stock; it would take a specific customer new car order. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE ! Cadillac Jim
Most Northstars have two coolers in them, an automatic transmission fluid cooler and an oil cooler. They are heat exchangers in the plastic tanks, and come as part of the assembled radiator. Look on your tanks; if you have oil lines going to the top and bottom of both tanks, then you have an oil cooler, otherwise you only have an automatic transmission fluid cooler. On my 1997, the oil cooler is on the right (passenger) side, but the 1998 has a different platform. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars.
