jwdiehl
I have a 1996 Eldorado with 65000 miles that has a small oil leak in the front end to the right of the drivers side tire. I can usually go between oil changes and only add a quart or less. I just went on a 1000 mile trip and had to add about a half a quart. I keep cardboard under the car and sometimes over night it does not seem to leak. Where would this be coming from in this area most likely? You are probably using oil. Try doing the WOT procedure, read through this article, the WOT procedure is explained and it will help you to understand what is happening. When I first bought my 96 it was driven by an old timer who babied it, it used a LOT of oil like yours, I started doing the WOT procedure weekly and opening it up till no smoke came out the back when I opened it up. JimD
Great info. Thanks but where is the dripping coming from? There are several potential sources for engine oil drips; crankcase split gasket, oil pan gasket neither of which is an easy-quick-inexpensive repair. If it "might be" transmission fluid there are several possibilities there also. Can you identify the type of oil? If cardboard works.... Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE ! BodybyFisher
There are a couple of oil cooler lines, they can go bad or loosen up, but on that side of the engine the tranny fluid lines are there. You need to get under there to see where its coming from.
