95 concours cd stuck - radio removal

Has anyone removed an am/fm/cd/cassette from a 95 concours?

Manual shows bolts but when I remove the bezel there are blank studs holding it on - are they reusable or sacrificial?

CD stuck yesterday. Turned radio on. "err". Eject doesn't work. Mode switch has no effect - stays on radio.

Anyone had same experience?

95-4.6l,

I Removed the radio/cd etc from our '94 Concours several times to fix the same CD no-eject issue. Gave up after a while and left the CD out. My son and I replaced the unit about 9-months ago and wired in a regular head unit with an Wal-Mart adapter kit to all the speakers.

I don't recall having to drill out any studs or anything remotely difficult. There are some how-tos on this site if you search on "radio". I will try to find the method, (maybe a clip on each side), but in the mean time - hands off that drill.

Good luck,

Add power to leave problems behind. Most braking is just - poor planning.

Thanks! You were right. a clip on either side behind the bezel. The faceless studs are the tops of posts that click in to the plastic housing. If anyone has the same setup it goes something like this:

If head unit is in the middle studs on either side go something like this:

-| O

O |-

Where the O is the top of a stud facing straight back from the faceplate and the -| is a stud facing sideways. The -| sideways facing stud is mounted on springy steel that just has to be pressed inwards towards the unit. This releases the unit and it slides right out. Pops back in the same way.

I took the unit out, unplugged it, poked inbetween the felt cd slot, observed the cd stuck in there and some posts that close around it for protection i suppose, plugged it back in, turned it on. Works now.

Maybe the connectors were loose or just needed a good shaking. Felt good to fix something today.

Thanks again for the no-drill warning.

:)
