MAC
My right front is making a popping sound but also it sounds like the spring. Today I also noticed wheel wobble at 25+ mph. If the wheel is wobbling is this usually a sign the bearing is shot? I don't hear a whirling sound or something indicating the bearing is shot though. Interestingly, lately Traction Control has been disabling itself--Is this a sign the bearing may be the problem because the speed sensor is not functioning correctly? There is definitely a problem and I can hear it even with the radio on when I make a left turn and sometimes with brisk acceleration. I would appreciate any suggestions. Cadillac Jim
The wobbling could be a CV joint or half-shaft, but the message does indicate a problem with a sensor or the wiring. Get the codes; they will tell you what the problem is with the traction control. If it's the left front, then you have a driver's seat diagnosis. Here's how: http://www.caddyinfo.com/readingcodes.html I would point out that any garage or tire store can probably diagnose a wobble in a few minutes. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars.
