Hud
Good Morning. My neighbor has a 96 SLS and when she lesves the car sit for three days, the battery is dead and won't crank. Two days, cranks slow but it starts. She took it to the dealer and they can't find anything wrong. She replaced the battery-same problem. She now has it at an independent garage and they have no idea. I would work on it, but just had a tripple back fusion two weeks ago and can't do anything for her except ask for your ideas. This forum as always been great. I can't sit long enough to look at all the back posts. Thanks in advance. HUD

HUD Check for a draw at the battery when the key and all accessories are off, if it appears that there is a draw, pull one fuse at a time till you find out what circuit it is drawing power and then examine that circuit. Look at the trunk light, retained power circuit, mirror lights, glove compartment light, aftermarket amp not turning off, etc.. BodybyFisher
One more thing, it is entirely possible that the cold weather combined with the car sitting long periods is taxing her battery. If she is not driving the car long enough to charge the battery, it is not getting to 100%. The cold weather is very hard on a battery, and that is exacerbated by a car that sits. If her driving habits are not going to change, she might consider a trickle charger. That is of course if you don't find a cause, but I am sure the dealer did its thing.. Texas Jim
Check to see if there is a cell phone charger plugged in... or an I pod charger. Maybe a radar detector left on. Check to see if the radio turns off when you open the drivers door. The retained accessory power may be staying on, instead of turning off like it should. 98deville
Could it mean that the alternator is going out? I had this same problem 2 weeks ago. Left my car at my parent's house for a week and when I finally picked it up it didn't crank...So I took the battery to O'riely's and charged it. Hooked the battery back up to the car and it started but the volts kept going down so the guy told me it could be that the alternator was going bad. digital_dad
Check the glove box light switch. If you press it and the light doesn't go out then this could be your drain.
