kjelie8706
You will need a black light, but you also need the proper equipment to inject the dye in the system and charge it. would the refrigerant with the dye be sufficient

BodybyFisher
it doesnt hold the refrigerant. when ever i test the pressure, there is none. im not sure where to find the leak, and i would think it's a really big leak because even if i add the refrigerant the air the a/c doesnt even get cold or anything not even for a moment Have you had the system evacuated and recharged or are you just adding cans? Have you felt the AC pipes off the accumulator to see if its getting cold? The reason I say this is because if the AIR MIX door is stuck in the heat position or warm position you wont get good AC at all.. KHE
Something is not adding up here... You stated the compressor "works" which I take to mean that the clutch is engaging, correct? Yet there are no codes stored in the diagnostics. If the system were low on refrigerant, there will be a code stored. It's possible the gage you have is not depressing the check ball in the R-134a fitting on the accumulator. I asked you in an earlier post if you felt the evaporator inlet and outlet pipes (right where they enter the HVAC case) while the compressor was engaged. Did you do that? What were the results? BodybyFisher
Feel the pipe going in and coming out of the accumulator / dryer and see if it gets cold. Listen for the compressor clutch clicking on and off, does it click on and off? If you have NO AC Code you do not have low pressure in your AC system..and its probably something else See if you can answer the questions I asked. Ranger
Yes you will hear the electromagnetic clutch click as it engages and disengages. You can also see it if you watch the clutch.

WHATS THE BEST WAY TO LISTEN FOR IT BECAUSE THERE IS THE ENGINE RUNNING. WILL I KNOW IF I HEAR IT CLICK Yes as Ranger said you should hear a mechanical CLICK when the engine is running with the AC on, the FRONT portion of the compressor will turn when the clutch is engaged. Put it on 60 and HI.. Lift the hood and LOOK DOWN at the compressor and watch and listen.. Feel the AC pipes also near the dryer to see if they are cold Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
