Rickster
You know, I had that problem on my 01. Turns out, (no pun intended) that a fuse was gone. I think in the box under the back seat. It also was the fuse for the licence plate light and some of the council lights for the radio and such. 2001 STS Mettalic Otter Grey, Black Leather, 213,000 kilometers - miles - ? JimD
A fuse would be the #1 and least expensive suspect. If this discussion was about a '98 model, I would be inspecting the 10 amp DIMR fuse in the rear underseat fuse/relay box. But you would/should also notice that tag lights, underhood light, and some (?) interior lights do not work if that fuse was blown. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE ! curry
I've checked all fuses and they are all good. I'm leaning towards the switch just haven't had time to get into the steering column yet. I appreciate all the input and look forward to any other ideas.
