skibum9406
o1 Deville: Dealer says I need a secondary air Injection Motor (AILK) motor. Error Code from system. It is part of the emmision system. Should I replace? Will it effect performance? Looks like it is a dealer only part at $280. Any recommendations? Can you find this part after market? Ranger
If the motor is bad, it likely set a DTC and you will not pass an emission test if you live where it is mandatory. It will not affect performance. It only runs for about 40 seconds after start up and pumps additional air into the exhaust stream to help lite the CAT quicker. Logan
Please be aware! There is a service bulletin for a newer style intake hose for the air blower. Problem is: water is getting into the blower. Water damages blower, sets code. New style hose prevents water from getting into the air blower. Trust me. You need the updated hose. I've done this job twice, 2nd time with new style hose. Rickster
OK Logan, I remember you talking about cooking your injection pump in the oven to dry it out. Did that not work and you bought a new pump or did you replace the hose and all is fine now? My SES light has been on for a year now and the code is the seconary air injection pump. What's the story. Logan
The oven trick did not work. Motor had that burnt wet electrical smell. Anyway, found a new motor on eBay, and bought the updated hose from the dealer. Year later, all is fine.
