96 SLS Stabilizer link update

Delta

Recommended Posts

Just an update, installed two stabilizer links yesterday, got the parts from rockauto, better than expected! Parts were correct, with grease fittings, well made, and cost $17.00 each when parts stores around here are over $50.00 each. Anyways, removing old ones was a bi**h, tapered shafts etc, but got them off, others fit right in no problem, smooth ride is back!! :D :D :D :D :D

Here is the part I got from rockauto

Not sure about the differences but i know Rockauto sells different types of quality levels.

They use phrases like 'professional grade' etc.

Might be that the price difference comes from the quality level of the part?

If you are in complete control..... you are not going fast enough....

You're right, it was labeled service grade, but I'll tell ya, it was a much better part that was originally on the car, beefy etc, I don't know what "service grade" is, hehe, but they'll probably shatter whilst Im doing 80 on the highway :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

That's exactly what i was afraid for and therefore i ordered the originals (Delco). sometimes i have a 5 year old boy in the car and i'm not playing with his life. would with my own.. but not with his.

No, its definately a good product, made by Spicer, besides I dont think if it failed, (which Im sure they wouldnt be making a garbage product anyway) that it wouldnt be catastrophic like that, just being phesicious(spelling)

A service grade part should be just fine. Any name-brand part will work well. I bought service grade end links for my 2001 STS from Pep Boys last weekend. I think they were Spicer, and were made in the USA, and only $7 each (different design from yours, which use the ball joint ends). I used polyurethane bushings in them instead of the rubber, and they're working great. It's impressive for a service grade part to have the grease fittings. Be careful not to over-grease -- that can damage the boot and do more harm than good. That's why most grease joints these days are sealed, to remove the element of "user error".
