tire size change on SLS

I am planning to change my 225/60/16 tires on my sls to 225/60/17s. Can anyone offer me some advise as to what I will need to change? I spent some time last night looking for a speedo cal but couldn't find it. Also, will the ABS work correctly with no vhanges? Thanks

The ABS should work fine. But the speedometer will be off, and I don't think it can be adjusted.

You may consider a 225/55R17 -- that is almost EXACTLY the same diameter as a 225/60R16. A 235/55R17 will also be closer to your original size as compared with a 225/60R17.

The weels I pruchased came with the larger size from an STS. I hate to ding 4 good Michilen tires. I talked with a couple of people that are knowlegable and they both thought the PCM would need to be reflashed?

The PCM would need to be re-programmed to change the speedometer, but there's nothing available to do that. These computers are relatively "impenetrable". I know that with 4-wheelers, for example, you can put big tires on it and add some in-line module to the transmission to adjust the effective axle ratio, to correct the speedometer. Here's one, only as an example:

I don't know if those are generic, or if they're transmission-specific. That'd be the only way to correct the speedometer. PCM programming isn't generally an option in our case. You may consider "eBaying" the good Michelin tires to get some of your money back. The 225/60R17 tires are close to an inch taller than stock. You should be able to safely go to a tire that's 27.0 or 27.2" tall, but the 225/60s are over 27.5" tall. That's a relatively large difference, and I'm not sure about suspension clearance. Probably not an issue, but I just don't know. :(
