PAUL T
The 97 Deville that I bought in September is stumbling during acceleration sometimes. I suspected the wires arcing so I check them after dark and sure enough there was a light show without them being misted. I checked the paperwork I got with the car and discovered that the plugs & wires had been changed in 2003 and there was not that many miles on them. I removed the beauty cover to see where they were touching any metal and discovered that one wire had been put under the hose to the pcv valve. This held it down on the front stainless steel fuel rail causing problems. Then I noticed that the wire loom had slipped off the other front plug wires alowing them to touch the rear fuel rail also. I rearranged the wires and I had it fixed temporarily. Then I noticed the car stumbling again and saw even more arcing from a wire that was 1/4" from any metal. Does this mean that they must be changed again, or should I just try to rearrange them again?

Do you know if those replacements were AC Delco? It sure sounds like time for a new set.
JimD
The permanent fix is to replace the wire set with OEM ACDelco parts and route them properly. Easy DIY project. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE !
Ranger
Yeah, I think they are either cheap, shot or both. I'd replace them.

I also checked and the Wires have about 25,000 miles on them.
