ECM Trouble (Not bad gas)

stokes

Recommended Posts

Heres an update to my previous post (Bad Gas?).Before going to the dealer to fix my Seville,I checked the connections on the ECM.The unit itself was very hot to the touch. When I would move or tap on the unit the engine would change its sputtering symptoms.Checked the Mem-Cal and it was not seated properly.Snapped it in and the idle smoothed out and seemed to run fine, problem seemed to be solved. If I rap on the unit the engine speed changes.Car runs okay but stalls often.Performed the TPS/Idle Learn Procedure. Will let it sit for a few hours and try it again, but it looks like I need a new ECM.Anybody have any thoughts on this prognosis before I buy a new ECM?Thanks for your input.

The case helps to remove heat from the injector drivers, etc., so it is normal to be fairly warm. The tap test is fairly definitive as long as the connections have been checked.
