stefank
Hi everybody, does anyone of you happen to know whether the seat cushion (foam) for the driver's seat is still available at a GM dealer? Mine disintegrated seriously, I had the seat apart, bent the mountings for the straps (they are tight) and stuffed some generic foam in there, but the cure was rather short lived. My butt resides on a metal inner part of the seat, it gets so bad that I change position all the time and my back starts to hurt. I thought about exchanging driver/passenger side cushion but they are different in shape. Over here no wrecking yards with Cadillacs, so no luck with this option. If I could get a whole car cheap, I'd buy it. But if you get cheap Sevilles, the interior is shot anyway. Best Stefan
Cadillac Jim
One thing I found was that the seats for the Seville SLS are the same over the model years 1992 through 1997. Here is a big Cadillac recycler that may ship internationally: http://www.cadauto.com/ You might have good luck with a quote from GM Brasington: http://www.gmotors.com/ I found the seat bottom, complete, for, uh, $578.95 plus shipping: Trademotion parts page for your seat Others may have more ideas, or even a seat for your car. -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars. I bought a new spring unit at the dealer, you can still buy them see this thread, Mike http://caddyinfo.ipbhost.com/index.php?sho...320&hl=seat Mine is sagging again, I am going to pull the seat frame and design some way of holding the spring in place Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
stefank
Jim, thanks a lot for the information. The third link you gave mentions the seat frame. I guess this is without the foam, just the metal frame. Regarding the recycler, a used one may be as bad as mine, and a recycler may prefer to sell the complete seat, or even the complete interior, than tearing apart a good seat. But I may give it a try. I will look into Brasington as well. Mike, I've seen that thread, thanks for pointing it out. My problem is the foam itself, the springs/frame unit is fine. The foam on my seat has lost it's shape, it's kinda moved forward. There is a real gap between lower and the upper part of the seat, you can see through! And the left metal "joint", where the lower and upper part of the seat is put together, is clearly visible. Additionally, there's always some pieces of foam found under the seat, as the disintegration proceeds... Thanks Jim and Mike, Stefan
Cadillac Jim
Why not just go to a good car upholsterer that does leather seats and get your foam? They will have the right stuff. Some in-depth auto detailers keep this kind of supplies on hand too. Ed Hall
Here's an idea. Get some really high quality foam such as Tempur-pedic and make your own seat cushion.

My detail shop has a new seat (seat not the seat back) leather for a beige seat (96 I think). I am not sure of the color of my interior, what color is yours, mine is a beige color. Next chance I get I will stop by and see if he can dig it out and take a photo of it. He has rebuilt many Cadillac seats. This is probably one of the last seat leathers in the world, if I was going to keep my car, I might buy it myself. Not sure of the details but I will get them for you. stefank
Hi all, thanks a lot for your suggestions and ideas! I dont feel so confident about making a custom seat cushion myself... There is an upholstery shop near me who does real good work, and is not so expensive as well, but it's a bit problematic cause they tend to be slow and I need the car every day. Mike, mine's got the cloth seats, see photo. Is the Seville and the DeVille seat the same? Stefan
Ed Hall
Wow, it is rare to see a Cadillac with cloth seats. The Deville & Seville have different seats. The Allante's have different seats as well and they were made by Recaro.

As for the foam, most likely still available under 2003 'Eldorado' listing. Pretty close if not the same seat.
