woody
Hello Forum, Well it took a bit longer than expected after my new mechanic removed and checked out everything. I got my car back yesterday and it is like new. Here was the original list; (2) Head gaskets and bolts (2) Valve cover gaskets Intake gaskets Front cover seal & gasket Oil filter Oil Oil manifold Oil pan gasket Anirobic Sealer (2) Coolant Time certs Power steering fluid Torque converter seal Trans fluid Sealing tabs Thermostat & gasket Permatex sealer Coolant nipple Dowel pins Thread locker (4) Crossover gaskets Waterpump cover gasket I also needed; (1) upper engine mount ~ Broke (1) lower main body engine mount ~ Rubber mount was broke in half (1) Coolant bottle ~ Clogged with S*%# so bad could not get it all out plus the sensor was bad (2) Lower metal heater tubes ~ Rusted almost through (8) New plugs (1) Timing Chain bushing ~ Bushing was gone housing with 3 sprokets looked like an egg instead of round. (1) Case half seal ~ Toatally shot (1) Water pump belt ~ Half shreaded (1) Rear main seal ~ New style with rubber in steal instead of soild rubber (2) OE radiator hoses Lets just say nothing was overlooked he also found 2 small coolant hoses entirely blocked so the system was not allowing proper flow. The throttle body was entirley plugged as well not allowing it to cool.I saw an entire table of bad parts. Needless to say the other mechanic that he knows from Gooley Cadillac that helped him with the time certs stated the job at the dealer where he works would have totaled out the job at around $6800.I did have to pay some extra and it brought my total to $4000 It did hurt to put out the monies but I can't buy a new car even for that price. I am looking to get at least 100,000 K out of her know. Thank you all for your feedback and help Oh yeah he through in the car wash for free Woody
Bruce Nunnally
Sounds good. You'd spend twice that in the first year's depreciation on a new car. Bruce 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Follow me on: Twitter Instagram Youtube
BodybyFisher
It sounds like you have a good mechanic there, that is the way I think. Replace it all while you are there. You have a great car now, keep maintaining it and it should last a long time. Will bookmark this message so that whenever i get there i can easily order everything on your list. (yeah i know, bit pessimistic at the moment) Anyway, hope that will be the last problems your car has for a while! All the best. Marc. If you are in complete control..... you are not going fast enough....
