Va Maddog
I have a 95 SLS with the standard painted/brushed aluminum wheels. Actually I like this wheel design and they go well with the car. Two of the four have several small to nickle sized areas where the metallic silver paint has come off. The service manuals detail a process to paint/touch up the wheels. It is essentially three steps - first cleaning with a special product for the aluminum, then painting followed by applying a sealer/clear coat. (again using special products for the aluminum wheel) Has anyone followed this process with success? Was it a bigger pain than just looking for two good replacement wheels would have been? Did the final result blend well? Has anyone had luck with a different process/method/product? Thanks!
STYES
It depends on your skill with paint. I am good enough to do this type of repair that is not noticeable from a distance, with the wheels on the car. So it depends on what you skill level is, and your expectations.
