iwanta2000caddy
Hey guys, I took the plunge and bought a 2000 Cadillac STS (46,000 Mi) and I love it. Upon purchase of the car, I noticed that the front left strut is leaking and will soon need to be replaced. For the past few days, it has been -20C and the car has been acting a bit weird. First, the "Service Stability System" Error appeared, and now when I go over speed bumps I can almost feel the car rocking (it doesn't feel tight at all) Are the Service Stability System message and the Leaky strut related? Thanks for your help in advance.
Ranger
Are the Service Stability System message and the Leaky strut related? Most likely. Start by pulling the DTC's.
iwanta2000caddy
Thanks Ranger, I understand so what about fixing it? I was told by a mechanic that it would last 6 months without being fixed. The strut is leaking however, should I get it fixed ASAP or can I hold off? THanks again
Ranger
A leaky strut is like a leaky shock. It is basically useless. You can let it go as long as you can stand it.

Excelllent, that is good to know. I used to own a BMW, the strut went on it and the whole wheel assembly actually collapsed on itself (while driving!) It is good to know that the same won't happen. I am planning on buying from rockauto.com to save some $$$ instead of getting it from the stealership.
